Student Food Drive

Students making a difference

Mission Statement: To unite and empower area high school students in the commitment to feed the hungry and promote volunteerism.

WHO? Area high school students, corporate sponsors and the community

WHAT? Fighting hunger, developing leaders, having a friendly little competition… Or maybe not so little… Over the past 23 years, area teens have raised 12,191,154 pounds of food valued at over $23.45 MILLION!

WHERE? The Quad Cities, Clinton, Orion, and surrounding areas.

WHEN? Every fall…2009 dates: September 28th to November 5th.

WHY? Food insecurity is a real issue in our area. Each can of food collected through the Student Food Drive sends a message that the hungry in our community are not alone in their daily struggle. Students learn about the power of uniting as a whole community to help those who need it most.

This Quad City based program is now catching on across the country. Read the 2009 Fact Sheet to find out more about the program.
